Nothing beats a day out to a decent park in the school holidays. And among the many fabulous family parks across Greater Manchester, there's one that always proves a big hit with the kids.

Moss Bank Park is close to Smithills in Bolton and attracts visitors from miles around. As well as the usual playground equipment, it's got a giant sandpit for little ones to play in and a funfair with inflatables and rides. The fair is open daily across the school holidays from 10.30am with attractions including a teacups ride, a funhouse and a large inflatable slide.

It's £1 per token, or you can get deals including 12 tokens for £10. There's a cafe in the park selling a range of snacks and drinks and behind that is The Hive, a nature area and play space for families where fun activities are held throughout the year with The Wildlife Trust.
