DIY SOS presenter Nick Knowles made quite the impression on Strictly Come Dancing's opening night with his jive to Starship's We Built This City, scoring 18 points and placing 12th on the leaderboard.Despite his initial excitement, the 62 year old suffered an injury just days after his debut when he changed a car tyre following a breakdown. On Monday's episode of It Takes Two, Knowles appeared with his arm in a sling, sharing more details about his ordeal. He said: "It was my birthday on Saturday and I had a big family birthday get-together on the Sunday.

I went to get my 10-year-old son and bring him back to the party, but we broke down on the motorway with a flat tyre."He continued, detailing the incident: "It was raining and there were big lorries going past, I tried to do it quickly and change the tyre quickly and as I took the tyre off I basically damaged my bicep."Knowles expressed gratitude towards the policeman who assisted him, and although he initially thought he was fine, the pain intensified later on.

Janette Manrara, co-host of It Takes Two, expressed concern about his ability to perform in the upcoming show: "At this stage, we don't really know if you're going to be able to dance on Saturday yet."However, Knowles remained optimistic, stating: "I'm hopeful!

I'll find out more tomorrow but I'm fully expecting to go into training and I'm really hopeful I'll be dancing on Saturday."Manrara commended his determination, responding: "That is the fighting spirit isn't it!"The duo disclosed that if Nick gets the green light, they plan to perform the American Smooth to Blur's Parklife. However, the BBC presenter was curious about how they would manage to create a routine if Nick is still nursing his injury.
