Amanda Holden
Amanda Louise Holden (born 16 February 1971) is an English media personality, actress, television presenter, singer, and author. She has judged on the television talent show competition Britain's Got Talent since the show began its run in 2007 on ITV. As an actress, Holden played the role of Mel in Kiss Me Kate (1998–2000), Geraldine Titley in The Grimleys (1999-2001), Sarah Trevanion in Wild at Heart (2006–2008), Lizzie, the Ring Mistress, in Big Top (2009), and the title role in Thoroughly Modern Millie, for which she was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award.

Sports event for children with disabilities coming to Linwood

An event to encourage more young people with disabilities to try sport is being held in Linwood next month.The Scottish Disability Sport 12th West of Scotland Parasport Festival is being held at the ON-X.It is designed to encourage P5 to S6 pupils from mainstream schools with a physical, visual or hearing impairment, to try a variety of new and exciting sports.Nine sports are on offer including badminton, boccia, powerchair football, wheelchair basketball, athletics, judo, football, swimming, table tennis, and tennis.Representatives from local clubs will be at the event to run the sport sessions and encourage young people to get involved.Don't miss the latest headlines from around Renfrewshire.

Sign up to our newsletters here.A spokesperson for Scottish Disability Sport said: “It has been identified that these individuals are significantly under-represented when it comes to participating in weekly sport or physical activity.“The activities selected reflect the strong club structure in the region.

The key impact of the event is to provide a multi-sport opportunity to these pupils, identify talented individuals within specific sports, alongside channelling pupils onto local, regional club programmes and sessions.“We would like to welcome back all pupils who have attended in the past, alongside engaging new pupils to attend for their first experience.”The last event took place in March 2020 before lockdown at the ON-X for the first time.
