Brendan Gleeson has been officially confirmed as a series regular opposite Nicolas Cage in Spider-Noir, the upcoming MGM+ and Prime Video live-action series based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir.

From executive producers/co-showrunners Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot and Sony Pictures TV, Spider-Noir tells the story of an aging and down on his luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.

Gleeson, whose casting had been making the rounds for weeks, is believed to be playing a New York mob boss. In addition to Cage, he joins previously announced series regulars Lamorne Morris, Li Jun LI and Abraham Popoola.

Harry Bradbeer is set to direct, and executive produce the first two episodes of the series, which Uziel and Lightfoot developed and executive produce with Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Amy Pascal.
