A prominent site in Gartcosh is being purchased by North Lanarkshire Council to allow the long-awaited construction of a primary school for the growing area.

The enlarged new 434-capacity school is set to be built on the current open space and football pitch located between Woodneuk Avenue and Johnston Road.Local authority officials announced today that a deal has been agreed to buy the three separate parcels of land which make up the chosen site, with community consultation now due to get underway.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
