Shay Logan has accused Clyde fans of racially abusing him during Cove Rangers’ game at Broadwood. The former Aberdeen full-back claimed on Twitter on Saturday that he was the victim of vile monkey chants during his side’s 1-0 League Two victory.

Logan, who has been the victim of racism before in Scottish football, called out Bully Wee supporters on his own social media page.

The 33-year-old defender tweeted: “When you upset Clyde fans because your mum chose a black man #Kickitout #BlackandProud.” He then went on to list a series of chants that he claims were aimed at him, which included: “Shay get back in your box you monkey.”Logan went on to say in his post: “Could be wrong here but monkeys normally stay in trees and cages.“Well this little monkey rocked up to Clyde, brushed your team and took three points. #kickitout #Monkeysrule.” When MailSport contacted Clyde on Saturday night, the Broadwood club said it’s a matter they will take extremely seriously.

A Clyde statement said: "The club has been made aware of an accusation of a racist comment being made towards Cove Rangers player Shay Logan by a spectator during today’s cinch League One match at Broadwood.
