Sergio Aguero’s cardiologist has dismissed suggestions that the former Manchester City striker’s heart problems were caused by Covid or the vaccine.
Aguero was forced to retire from football last week, with the 33-year-old announcing his decision in a tearful press conference at the Camp Nou on Wednesday.
The Argentine had only joined Barcelona from City during the summer, but his last appearance against Alaves in October saw him leaving the pitch before being taken to hospital after experiencing discomfort in his chest.
Having undergone cardiological tests, it was confirmed Aguero had suffered a heart arrhythmia, with City’s all-time top scorer taking the decision to retire from playing shortly after.
