Senior Scots terror cop reported to prosecutors over ‘inappropriate touching’ allegation

A senior Scots terrorism cop has been reported to prosecutors after being accused of ‘inappropriately touching’ a woman.Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Pat Campbell was suspended by Police Scotland in December after the complaint was made against him.A probe by the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner was launched to examine the circumstances of the incident, which is alleged to have taken place at a conference in Edinburgh.The Daily Record can now reveal that the police watchdog submitted their findings to the Crown Office for their consideration on February 18.A decision on whether to prosecute T/ACC Campbell will now be determined by the Crown’s Criminal Allegations Against the Police Division.A spokesperson said: “COPFS has received a report from the Police Investigations & Review Commissioner (PIRC) and it is under consideration by the Crown’s Criminal Allegations Against the Police Division.”Campbell was appointed as temporary Assistant Chief Constable in December 2020 and headed up Police Scotland’s Organised Crime and Counter Terrorism unit.His suspension was authorised by the Scottish Police Authority on December 1 after the criminal allegation was brought to light.They previously said: “The Scottish Police Authority (SPA) has suspended a senior officer from Police Scotland duties.“The decision was taken after a criminal allegation was brought to the Authority’s attention.The Daily Record and Sunday Mail have always been at the forefront when it comes to reporting crime in Scotland.But did you know all the ways you can stay informed of the top crime and courts headlines?We share live crime news and exclusive court stories as well as features and columns on historical cases, keeping our readers
