Second body found in Scots town as police launch ‘unexplained’ death probes

A second unexplained death probe has been launched in a Scots town after the bodies of a man and woman were discovered just a day apart.

Emergency services were called to the first property on Hozier Street in Carluke, Lanarkshire, shortly before 5pm on Tuesday.

Officers found the body of a 30-year-old woman who had passed away. Less than 24 hours later, investigators received a report of a second sudden death involving a 65-year-old man.He was found at an address on Cairneymount Road at around 2.30pm on Wednesday - less than half a mile away from the first property.Both deaths are currently being treated as ‘unexplained’ by police while enquiries remain ongoing.A force spokesperson confirmed: “Police were called around 4.45pm on Tuesday following the sudden death of a 30-year-old woman at an address on Hozier Street, Carluke.“Enquiries are currently ongoing and the death is being treated as unexplained at this time.“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."They added: “Officers were made aware of the sudden death of a 65-year-old man within a property on Cairneymount Road in Carluke at around 2.30pm on Wednesday.“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.”It is understood that the two deaths are unrelated and are being treated as two separate incidents.
