Scottish Government announces 12 covid deaths and 3,060 cases in last 24 hours

The Scottish Government has confirmed 12 people have died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours. It brings the death toll since last March – of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days – to 9,661.The latest figures for Scotland showed 3,060 new cases had also been identified overnight.There are currently 576 people in hospital confirmed to have the virus with 38 being treated in intensive care.To date 4,355,063 people have received their first vaccination with 3,962,203 having a second jab, while 1,922,604 have received a third dose or booster.It comes as Deputy First Minister John Swinney has also urged Scots to take covid tests more regularly in a bid to stop the rise of the new strain.He added yesterday
