A Scots wrestler has shed over 13 stone after a doctor's grave warning forced him to change his life. Johnny Lamb, from Aberdeen, was over 45 stone when a doctor said it would a 'miracle' if he made it to 50.
In 2021, the health warning pushed the 35-year-old to decide it was time to turn his life around, reports Aberdeen Live. He said: "That just made me snap back into reality a bit.
I thought about my wife not having a husband, my family losing me. "My mental health was very low and even though I'm not a selfish person, I think I started thinking selfishly at that point. "I was 34, so that was a very scary thing to be told, and it was a conscious decision from there.
I needed to do it. I told myself, 'it's now or never'."Johnny sought out a weight loss surgeon but was told he'd need to lose up to 15 stone before they could operate on the NHS.However, a private surgeon said he would take on the 6ft 7in wrestler's case if he shed five stone.Johnny, who also works for oil giant Baker Hughes, went on a major diet in June last year.He was consuming just 800 calories a day in the form of four milkshakes. The diet saw him quickly lose five stone and he underwent a mini gastric bypass surgery in August.
