The Education Institute of Scotland (EIS) warned classrooms could only function properly if staff felt safe and said ministers should reconsider a blended learning model if required.The warning comes as official figures show the number of teachers and pupils required to self-isolate at home has risen steadily over the last month.There were 9,486 pupils absent from school as of November for 10 for Covid-related reasons – an increase of 28% on the previous week - while 1,559 teachers were absent, a rise of 18%.Schools in Scotland reopened on a full-time basis for all pupils in August.Nicola Sturgeon has.
