Sarah Drew looked back on her experience on Grey’s Anatomy. The 44-year-old actress made her debut on the show playing April Kepner in 2009.

She was let go in 2018 and has since returned a few times as a guest star. In a new interview, she explained how it felt to be let go, saying that the firing was “mean and unjust.” Sarah also reflected on what it was like to return to the series and revealed a key way that the show actually helped her career. Keep reading to find out more… While on the Call It What It Is podcast, Sarah compared the experience to “being fired from our family.” “We were unceremoniously let go in a way that felt really mean and unjust,” she recalled, via People. “And, because of that, the outpouring of love was so enormous it was like you were sitting there watching people say all the things that they love about you after you’re dead.” She added that she has “no attachment” to the role at this point, adding that she’s found peace. “When you’re on the show, you know, you never know what’s gonna happen.

You never know if they’re gonna lose interest in your story line or if you piss off the wrong person, then something’s gonna happen.

Like, you don’t know. But when I just popped back in to say hello, it I have zero anxiety, and I don’t need anything from anybody on that set anymore,” she said.
