RTÉ One’s Claire Byrne Live has come under fire from viewers who are not happy with what they perceive to be ‘relentless negativity’ on the show.
On Monday night, Professor Sam McConkey’s appearance on the current affairs show led to a barrage of tweets from viewers who felt deflated by the infectious disease specialist’s contribution.
He stated that it was ‘unclear’ if the roll out of a vaccine would stop the spread of COVID-19 and raised doubts over the real-world meaning of the efficacy rates that were being reported by the vaccine producers.
Former Renua politician Lucinda Creighton tweeted, ‘Was feeling mildly positive there for a few days based on vaccine news. Anyway, @ClaireByrneLive has Dr McConkey on now to burst that bubble.
