Manchester United fan Rory McIlroy will be going for the elusive golfing major that has evaded his grasp so far when he tees off at The Masters on Thursday.
The Northern Irishman painstakingly finished as runner-up in 2022 but will go for the crown at Augusta National to complete the career set of major wins.
It’s been a busy year for McIlroy both on and off the course. The 34-year-old has tallied three tour wins and was part of the Team Europe outfit that outclassed Team USA at the Ryder Cup in October.
Away from the fairways, McIlroy in October admitted his openness in becoming a minority stake owner of Manchester United, five months after being named as the richest UK sportsperson under the age of 35.
