Martin Scorsese
Martin Charles Scorsese Italian (born November 17, 1942) is an American filmmaker and actor, whose career spans more than 50 years. Part of the New Hollywood wave of filmmaking, he is widely regarded as one of the most significant and influential filmmakers in cinematic history. Scorsese's body of work explores such themes as Italian-American identity, Catholic concepts of guilt and redemption? faith, machismo, modern crime, and gang conflict. Many of his films are also known for their depiction of violence and liberal use of profanity. In 1990, he founded The Film Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to film preservation, and in 2007 he founded the World Cinema Foundation. He is a recipient of the AFI Life Achievement Award for his contributions to the cinema, and has won an Academy Award, a Palme d'Or, Cannes Film Festival Best Director Award, Silver Lion, Grammy Award, Emmys, Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and Directors Guild of America Awards.

Rodrigo Prieto to be Honored by International Cinematographers Guild

Carolyn Giardina Cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto will receive the Distinguished Filmmaker Award and M. David Mullen, the Mentor Award, during the International Cinematographers Guild’s annual Emerging Cinematographer Awards.

Prieto received Oscar nominations for Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “The Irishman,” and “Silence” and And Lee’s “Brokeback Mountain.” His credits also include last year’s hit “Barbie” and Taylor Swift’s “Fortnight,” for which he earned an MTV Video Music Award.

Born and Raised in Mexico, Prieto first gained attention for “Amores Perros.” Next he’s set to make his feature directorial debut with an adaptation of the novel “Pedro Paramo” by Juan Rulfo.

A three-time Emmy winner for his work on “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” Mullen’s contributions to education and mentoring includes co-authoring both the 3rd edition of the textbook “Cinematography” by Kris Malkiewicz and the 11th edition of “The American Cinematographer Manual.” The International Cinematographers Guild (IATSE Local 600) previously announced that eight honorees will receive Emerging Cinematographer Awards.
