Todd Spangler NY Digital Editor Soumya Sriraman, most recently head of Amazon’s Prime Video Channels, has been hired by Qurate Retail Group, the parent company of QVC and HSN, as president of streaming. In the newly created role at the John Malone-controlled company, Sriraman will lead Qurate Retail’s streaming commerce business, which includes the QVC+ and HSN+ streaming services and QVC’s and HSN’s expanding presence on digital livestreaming TV. Sriraman joins the company effective Sept. 7, reporting to Mary Campbell, president of vCommerce Ventures (the business unit that operates the company’s streaming service). Sriraman spent two years leading Amazon’s Prime Video Channels in the U.S. and exited the role this summer, as first reported by Variety. She was in charge of the business that sells add-on subscription services for Paramount+, Discovery+, Starz, PBS and others to Amazon Prime members. Prior to Amazon, Sriraman was the founding CEO and president of streaming service BritBox, formed by the BBC and ITV. Before that she served was EVP of franchise and digital enterprises at BBC Studios and held senior positions at Tartan, Vivendi Universal, Warner Bros. and Universal Studios.

Brian Steinberg Senior TV Editor Karen Grinthal, a veteran ad-sales executive who has long represented cable’s Food Network and other properties to Madison Avenue, is set to retire from her post. Grinthal, who has worked at Scripps and then Discovery Communications for years, was recently named part of the new senior ad-sales executive team at Warner Bros. Discovery. Grinthal was named in July to be one of three top executives overseeing linear and digital sales for cable networks reporting in to Jon Steinlauf, head of U.S. ad sales for the company. Grinthal was assigned to supervise linear and digital sales and revenue for Food Network, TLC, TBS Entertainment, OWN, Cooking Channel, Cartoon Network and WB Syndication.

Roni Patel will be responsible for content licensing; Kasper Kryger will be responsible for the ad sales business in the region; Jesper Steenberg will be responsible for the new consolidated distribution team; Tore Fredrik Dreyer will head up distribution for theatrical, games and home entertainment; and Jessie Ross Skarvad will be responsible for marketing and publicity of theatrical, games and home entertainment.

Established in 1995 by Mikel Elliott, Quixote Studios is one of the biggest providers of sound stages and production services in the entertainment industry. The company helps to rent soundstages, cast trailers, trucks, lighting equipment and other infrastructure necessary for production. Quixote has 325 employees, long-term lease rights to 23 soundstages in Los Angeles and works for notable clients including Disney, HBO, Warner Bros., Sony, Paramount and NBCUniversal. Under the deal, Elliott will remain in a leadership position at Quixote. In addition to Quixote, Hudson Pacific also owns Sunset Studios rental company, which mangages 60 stages in five studio lots around Los Angeles and in the United Kingdom.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s David Leavy has inked a new three-year contract as Chief Corporate Affairs Officer with the David Zaslev-led media conglomerate, Deadline has confirmed.

Sound stage and production services provider Quixote Studios has sold itself to LA-based Hudson Pacific Properties, owner/operator of the Sunset Studios group, for $360 million

K.J. Yossman Warner Bros. Discovery and BT Group have formed a joint venture combining the assets of BT Sport and Eurosport U.K. into an as-yet-untitled joint venture. Both WBD and BT hold a 50% stake each in the new venture and are equally represented on the board. The chair will be rotated between the companies, with the inaugural post held by BT, who have appointed Marc Allera, CEO of BT’s consumer division. Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe president and managing director Andrew Georgiou is also on the board and will lead the business. Although the transaction has been completed, BT Sport and Eurosport U.K. currently retain their individual identities and can continue to be accessed by viewers as normal. They will be merged at an unspecified date.

The transaction for Warner Bros Discovery and BT Sport’s joint UK and Ireland sports venture has closed successfully.
