Rumours are swirling that King Charles is keen to "hit the reset button" and reconcile with Prince Harry, amid reports that the US-based Prince is looking to return to the UK.In recent years the tension has heightened within the Royal Family following comments made by Prince Harry in both his memoir Spare and the Duke and Duchess's Netflix docuseries Harry and Meghan.

According to the Mirror, "peace talks" between the pair were held ahead of the Duke's solo trip to the UK earlier this month, however it was subsequently reported they didn't end up meeting - reports the Mirror. The Daily Beast now claims that the King has a "strategic need" for reconciliation as it was suggested that the estrangement reflects poorly on him as the leader of the country. The outlet also suggested that, as part of his efforts, he's not seeking an apology over accusations by Prince Harry.A source told the outlet: "It has been reported that Charles wants an apology from Harry, but that's far from the case." They added that he "wouldn't expect that" and "knows" that the family, including his youngest son, "are a stubborn lot".

The source added: "The quid-pro-quo is, can Harry accept that he won't be getting an apology either?"The source also claimed that King Charles once authorised a book by Jonathan Dimbley that "attacked his parents," and said that the family eventually moved on.

The source said: "Charles wants to hit the reset button - but not at any price."It was also suggested that the "issue" with Prince Harry doesn't necessarily have to be ironed out straight away but instead "sorted eventually".The source also said that King Charles prioritises fulfilling his duty as monarch but does love his son.
