Bank Holiday that will mean earlier payments coming through for thousands of people receiving benefits from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

HMRC announced changes to payment dates for Child Benefit and Tax Credits and the DWP has confirmed similar amendments for those receiving Universal Credit, State Pension and disability benefits including Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Employment Support Allowance (ESA), Disability Living Allowance, Attendance Allowance and Carer's Allowance.

The Bank Holiday is on Monday, August 30 and that means certain benefit payments due to drop into accounts on that date will be made on the last working day before it instead - Friday, August 27.
