Former Real Housewives of Cheshire star Christine McGuinness offered a candid insight into her life as she appeared on the latest series of BBC Pilgrimage and embarked on her very own spiritual journey on screen before our eyes.

The 36 year old star, who was diagnosed with Autism three years ago, admitted to the cameras that she wasn’t initially sure what she hoped to gain from the show, as she told the cameras: “I’m not really sure what I’m expecting to come out of this pilgrimage as I’m not really sure what I believe.” “I don’t know if I believe in anything at all.

I’d like to believe that there’s something else out there to help and guide us, but it’s not something I’ve ever done, practiced or followed.” Christine then went on to reveal how for all of her life she had felt like an outsider and struggled to connect with people and their thought processes, something that she was keen to tackle by taking part in the show with a host of other celebrities. The former model said: “Growing up I always felt different, I didn’t understand people and conversations.

I didn’t get jokes. I just always felt like an outsider - and I still do really, but since I’ve been diagnosed I understand the world a lot more and I understand myself a lot more.” Part of that diagnosis meant accepting some of Christine’s own personal quirks and better understanding them, especially in areas such as her own food sensory processing issues which often lead to her preferring plain foods without strong smells, textures or flavours.
