Paul O'Grady's friend claims late star 'didn't listen' to medics' concerns about his health
ok.co.ukChristopher Biggins has spoken out after Paul O’Grady’s death following the pair’s decades-long friendship. Showbiz veteran Christopher, 74, said Paul, who tragically died aged 67 last week, didn’t appear to take medics’ concerns very seriously despite having heart problems.The Paul O’Grady Show host suffered three heart attacks over the years: one in 2002, another in 2004 and a third in 2014.
With this in mind, Paul had been urged to give up smoking and drinking for the sake of his health. Christopher said: “Paul was like a teenager as far as his health was concerned — he didn’t listen." He continued to tell The Sun: “About 15 years ago we were staying with Cilla [Black] in Spain.
Paul had his heart problems already and had been told not to smoke or indulge in alcohol too much. “That was a stupid thing to tell Paul.” He also spoke of their close friendship with the late Cilla Black and recalled the wild holidays the trio went on with Dale Winters.
Chrisopher went on to note Paul’s “gorgeous” husband Andre Portasio, and said their marriage “saved [Paul] from descending into life as a rogue”.The pair tied the knot in 2017.
