Plans to increase car parking charges across Trafford have been tabled by the council. The authority is now consulting the public on proposed changes to parking fees and residents’ parking permits.

The cost of parking in town centres is set to rise to £2 for the first two hours, with the maximum charge rising by 50p to £6.

Meanwhile, residents parking permits are also set to increase from £41.75 to £47.50 per year. The move is part of the council’s draft budget proposals for 2022/23.

The council described the changes as ‘regrettable’ and explained the move is due to ‘massive budget pressures on the council’.
