Paddy and Christine McGuiness ‘so proud’ of autistic children for 'massive milestone'

Paddy and Christine McGuinness have opened up about their pride for their three children, who have previously been diagnosed with autism, after they hit a “massive milestone” on World Book Day.

Speaking exclusively to OK!, Christine confessed that the annual dress up day, which sees children dress up as their favourite characters from a book for school and nursery, used to leave her and her kids in “tears”.

Christine and Paddy are parents to eight year old twins Leo and Penelope and five year old daughter Felicity.The 33 year old, who was also diagnosed with autism in August 2021, told us: “People say to us: ‘Oh my God it must be so difficult having three children with autism', and of course it is, it is challenging, but also we get to celebrate so much more.” Get exclusive celebrity stories and fabulous photoshoots straight to your inbox with OK!'s daily newsletter. “Yesterday our three children got dressed up for World Book Day. "I remember just a couple of years ago me being in tears because they didn’t want to do it, they didn’t understand it and they got upset by the fabric and the texture of the fancy dress clothes. “They didn’t like seeing people in fancy dress clothes because they didn’t understand it.” But Christine says her little ones have now “made so much progress” and went off to school dressed up and “really happy”.

While daughter Penelope was Jessie from Toy Story, son Leo was Super Mario and youngest daughter Felicity transformed into Snow White.
