Emma Guilbert, a first year psychology student at Newcastle University, had just stepped out into the street when she was hit by a car driven by Mohammed Youssaf.

After ploughing into the 18-year-old, Youssaf left her to die alone in the middle of the street. A court heard Youssaf was on his way home from work and was doing at least 40mph on the 30mph road when he hit Emma.
