Emma Guilbert, a first year psychology student at Newcastle University, suffered catastrophic injuries after being mowed down as she crossed the road.

After hitting the 18-year-old, Mohammed Youssaf left her to die alone in the middle of the street. This week, the 33-year-old was jailed for 30 months after being found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving.

Newcastle Crown Court heard he was not looking at the road when he hit Emma, who had moved to the North East to study just six week earlier.
