Nine boroughs in Greater Manchester now have coronavirus infection rates lower than the national average, new figures have revealed.
Just one borough - Tameside - has the highest rate in the region and cases above the average across the nation. However, coronavirus infection rates are still continuing to fall across all ten of the boroughs.
In Tameside, the rate of infection was 1030.7 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending January 19. In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 867.1 cases per 100,000 population. The infection rate in the region is lower than the national average, which is 985.1 cases per 100,000 people.
