Work will begin on a new CYCLOPS junction in South Manchester next week. The busy Brooks Bar junction in Whalley Range, sees five lanes of traffic crossing and is a route into many areas south of the city.

The decision to build a CYCLOPS - which means Cycle Optimised Protected Signals - junction will make the crossing safer for both pedestrians and cyclists, helping them to move across the junction while separated from each other, and cars.

The work will begin next week on August 22. The design of this CYCLOPS junction will change road access in the area to aims and ease congestion.

Shrewsbury Street will be closed at Upper Chorlton Road and turning left will be banned when turning left from Chorlton Road in Moss Lane West.
