TRIBUTES were paid today to pioneering musician MC Conrad, with fans dubbing the star a "true legend".The drum and bass artist, whose real name was Conrad Thompson, died leaving what was described as an "unmatched legacy".

His agency Clinic Talent led the tributes explaining that he passed away earlier this month. In a moving statement, they explained: "One of the most recognisable and best-loved voices in D&B, he leaves behind him an unmatched legacy. "Conrad will be deeply missed by all of us, and by all of you who were touched by his performances over the years.

Musician DJ Zinc described Conrad - who was from the Midlands and is thought to have lived in Birmingham until his death - as a "legendary voice" and a "nice bloke".

London-based Jungle and DNB pioneers 2 Bad Mice paid their own tribute, writing: “RIP to one of the originals and best to do it MC Conrad.” The star, a leading name in the field for decades, was renowned for his electric presence on stage.
