A mum has shared a handy trick which may provide parents with much-needed comfort and relief on a long-haul flight. Adele Barbaro, who writes on The Real Mumma blog, spoke of her experience of flying from Melbourne to Los Angeles with her husband and two kids.

While Adele expected the flight to be perfectly comfortable for her and her husband, she expressed her concerns about her children’s comfort on board.

Adele told readers that by spending an extra £104 on economy seats - which is far cheaper than business class - she was able to provide her children with a comfy makeshift bed, the Mirror reports.

The mum-of-two was able to bag a Sky Couch as part of an upgrade offered by the airline Air New Zealand. This transforms a row of seats into a fully flat bed, which offers more room to move around and lay down.Essentially the same as economy seats, the Sky Couch seats come with an additional footrest which can fold upwards to form a bed-like surface - which will come as welcome news to any parents planning on flying with Air New Zealand. In a Facebook post, Adele explained: "If there is two of you travelling, you can purchase a third seat at half price and you will get the entire row to yourself."The leg rests all rise to meet the chair in front and create a completely flat, large play or sleep area.
