The long-running quest to find the real identity of Banksy has been the subject of a slew of investigations and documentaries over the past few decades.
But it turns out he already confirmed his name back in 2003.BBC Radio 4 is broadcasting The Banksy Story for the first time in full, with an unearthed clip of an interview with the iconic artist that hasn’t been heard for 20 years.Doing the interview, which was presented by the BBC’s former arts correspondent Nigel Wrench, the secretive star discusses his 2003 Turf War show, featuring Banksy's signature anti-establishment themes, including police vans with graffiti and the famous images of Winston Churchill with a mohican, as writes Bristol Post.
But it’s a rare moment in the chat that is likely to draw attention to the unearthed recordings, where Nigel asks the cultural phenomenon if he can call him by his real name.
Nigel says: “Are you happy for me to use your name? I mean, The Independent has.” And as Banksy replies “yeah” Nigel then says: “Is it Robert Banks?” Banksy says: “ It's Robbie.” And Nigel replies: “Okay.
