Michael Beale insists he won’t be writing off Jon McLaughlin after rejecting the negative “narrative” that has surrounded the Rangers keeper since his Old Firm blunder.McLaughlin started the campaign as previous Ibrox gaffer Gio van Bronckhorst’s No.1 but was soon bombed out following a disastrous derby display at Celtic Park back in September.
He shipped eight goals in the space of four days as that 4-0 hammering from Ange Postecoglou’s side was followed up by another Champions League rout against AjaxHe’s spent most of the time since sitting on the bench backing-up Allan McGregor but new boss Beale has been quick to hand the Scotland squad member a couple of appearances since taking over.
And the Londoner’s faith been rewarded with clean sheets in both of McLaughlin’s appearances against Ross County and Sunday’s win at Dundee United.
Now he’s vowed to continue showing the 35-year-old the love as he promised the keeper he still has a big part to play this season.The Rangers manager said: ”Jon has come in and he’s kept another clean sheet and I am delighted for him personally.“I thought Sunday’s game might be a game with a lot of set plays and that didn’t really pan out.
