Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

It's only two months since Fashion Sakala was forced to come out and prove that rumours of his death had been grossly exaggerated.

Back home in Zambia during the World Cup break, stories circulated the Rangers striker had been shot during a robbery that had gone wrong – a rumour that prompted him to take to social media with a typically upbeat message that he was ‘very fine’.

So with that nonsense put to bed it was time for Sakala to prove his football career had plenty of life left in it as well, having been more of a bit-part player than he’d have liked to have been under Gio van Bronckhorst.

He returned from Africa to find a new manager in place in the shape of Michael Beale who had previously worked with him during the Steven Gerrard era.
