Manchester Airport has announced it will be imposing temporary pay cuts and temporary lay-offs in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

The decision was announced in a statement from Charlie Cornish, chief executive officer at Manchester Airports Group (MAG). Mr Cornish said the decision was 'difficult' and had 'not been taken lightly'.

Airport bosses will consult with colleagues and unions over the next few days and introduce measures to cut costs, the statement said.

These include enforced annual leave, reduced working hours, temporary pay cuts and temporary lay-offs. The Executive team is also taking an immediate pay cut and recruitment has been frozen.
