It means City now sit only one point behind Liverpool with two games in hand, the first of which comes on Thursday evening at Brighton.
Arsenal lead the way at the top of the table by four points, though Pep Guardiola's side also have two games in hand on the Gunners.
Commenting after the Sky Blues' last league outing against Luton Town, Guardiola said of the battle for top spot: "They like to play the pressure.
