Liam James Payne (born 29 August 1993) is an English singer and songwriter.
He rose to fame as a member of the boy band One Direction.
Payne made his debut as a singer when he auditioned for the British television series The X Factor in 2008. After being eliminated as a solo performer, he auditioned again in 2010 and was put into a group with four other contestants to form One Direction

The 31-year-old died on Wednesday, October 16, after he plunged from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires where he was holidaying with girlfriend Kate Cassidy, reports the Mirror.His body was discovered in an internal patio of the hotel and it's believed he fell from around 13 or 14 metres and suffered "very serious injuries incompatible with life." According to City ambulance service provider spokesman Alberto Crescenti, he had fallen around 40 feet and suffered “severe injuries".Liam and ex-fiancée Maya first met in 2015 during a One Direction meet and greet in Texas.
They bumped into each other again in 2018 at the Dolce&Gabbana fashion show in Lake Como where she was modelling.The pair got engaged in November 2019 - three months after officially dating in August that year - however, the pair split in June 2021.
They soon reunited and got engaged again before splitting up for good in May 2022.Maya discussed their troubled relationship in a TikTok video last week and a podcast interview on Monday, two days before his death.
