Lanarkshire pupils stage carol concert in new school building

Pupils who are set to move into Lanarkshire’s newest school in 2023 had a unique Christmas celebration in their under-construction new building.Youngsters from the current Carnbroe and Sikeside primaries had a carol concert inside the new Riverbank school and community hub, into which the two schools will amalgamate next summer.

They were joined by staff from contractor Morgan Sindall who have been working for the past 12 months on the £24 million building, as well as councillors and North Lanarkshire representatives as they donned Santa hats and sang Christmas songs around a tree in the heart of one of the new spaces.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Youngsters have already made their mark on the new school after they were given the opportunity to sign and draw on the steel beams of the new structure ahead of their being manoeuvred into place at the Paddock Street site.
