Kilmarnock residents win fight to save lifeline bus service after it was axed

Kilmarnock have won a battle to save their public transport link to the town centre after a Stagecoach U-turn.The firm stopped the X16 to Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, which ran through a section of New Farm Loch, on Monday, June 29 without any warning.Bosses revealed it had been a loss-making route for two years from February 2018.However, thanks to a community campaign, operator Stagecoach has decided to introduce a bus to cover the Courts and South Dean Road area again.From Monday, July 20, there will be an hourly service running Monday to Saturday into the town centre.New Farm Loch community council chair Peter Mabon said: “I’m happy to see that Stagecoach have listened to the concerns of our community and am delighted that the number 5.
