Kenny Miller insists he was surprised to see Rangers youngsters Charlie McCann getting a run out for his former club as they took on Dundee United.

The duo both came through the ranks at the Ibrox academy, featuring for Gio van Bronckhorst 's first team in recent months. And the pair were given selected in the gaffer's starting XI as Rangers searched for their first victory in four against managerless United at Ibrox on Saturday.

The hosts secured all three points with a 2-1 win, but done so after a number of changes were made by the Dutch boss after a disappointing defeat to Napoli in the Champions League days previous.

Antonio Colak was amongst the returning starters, but most notable was the inclusion of 20-year-old McCann, who made his first start for the Light Blues, with 18-year-old King securing his spot in the first choice XI.
