Joey Essex has opened up about suffering a stalker ordeal, claiming he has received 100,000 messages from a social media user - including threatening comments and death threats.The reality star, 34, who recently left the Love Island villa, has shared that he has taken the matter to the police after the user sent messages not only to him but to his girlfriend Jessy Potts, 25. "We have had to take the decision to report the stalker to the police because the messages have started to become more threatening.," he told The Sun. "I love my fans and want to be able to talk to them online but there has to be a line somewhere and sadly this is it.” The alleged messages are said to contain slurs and insults towards Jessy, including targeting her physical appearance.The Sun reports that Joey was set to speak to the police today (Wednesday 14 August) to launch a formal probe into the matter - with a source sharing that Joey's team noticed an increase in messages from one user in particular while he was in the villa. "Since he met Jessy, though, they have grown increasingly frightening with some targeted, physical threats and it’s become cause for concern," they told the publication.

Joey rose to fame on The Only Way Is Essex but recently returned to reality TV with a stint on Love Island, where he met Jessy.The pair were dumped from the show just days before the final as they were voted out by their former co-stars - who returned to the villa to cast their elimination votes.
