Jet2 has cancelled its flights and holidays to Austria after a surge in coronavirus cases led to a new national lockdown. A popular winter holiday destination thanks to its Christmas markets and ski resorts, the news comes a blow to holidaymakers.

Strict restrictions have been reintroduced across the country, with protective measures remaining in place into December, NottinghamshireLive reports.

People have been told to work from home and only to leave the house for essential purposes. Schools are open, although parents are asked to keep children at home if possible.
