Jeremy Giambi was an outfielder and first baseman who played for major league teams including the Oakland Athletics.Giambi played college baseball for the Cal State Fullerton Titans, helping the team to victory in the 1995 College World Series.

He was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in 1996, making his major league debut with the team in 1998. Giambi was traded to the A’s in 2000, where he was involved in a notable moment during the 2001 American League Division Series.

As the A’s played the New York Yankees, Giambi was tagged out at home on Derek Jeter’s memorable “flip” toss. After the 2002 season, he was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies and then to the Boston Red Sox.

The brother of fellow MLB player Jason Giambi, he was mentioned in the 2003 book “Moneyball” by Michael Lewis, about the A’s, and he was portrayed by Nick Porrazzo in the 2011 film adaptation.
