JAMIE Oliver is “heartbroken” at the sale of his parents’ posh gastro pub — where he first discovered his love for cooking. The TV chef, 45, grew up in the 16th Century inn and it “ignited his passion for food” as a young boy.
Parents Trevor and Sally have run The Cricketers, in Clavering, Essex, since 1976, but have decided to move on and sold it to a chain.
Trevor said: “We have had an amazing time running the inn, which has been our home for the last 44 years. “We brought up our children, trained and supported hundreds of staff in the hospitality sector and made many friends for life.” Jamie previously said of the pub: “I remember being fascinated by what went on in the kitchen.
