Jackie Chan’s 'Vanguard' Nabbed by Gravitas Ventures for North America

Gravitas Ventures has picked up the North American rights to Jackie Chan's latest action film, Vanguard. Directed by Stanley Tong, a wide theatrical release of Vanguard in the U.S.

and Canada, including drive-ins and Imax theaters, is planned for Nov. 20, 2020, a dated vacated by the latest James Bond film, No Time to Die, after MGM pushed that tentpole to 2021.

The North American film acquisition deal signals indie distributors are looking to Chinese blockbusters and other foreign fare to fill a North American market void as the major studios continue to push tentpoles to 2021 or give them streaming releases.

Vanguard marks the ninth collaboration between director Tong and Chan and features action sequences, while also starring Yang Yang,.
