This morning's episode of Good Morning Britain was interrupted when ITV correspondent Marverine Cole broke in with urgent news.
The programme had been focusing on a story about pollution on Exmouth beach when Marverine switched gears to bring viewers up-to-date with the latest developments in the superyacht tragedy.
She declared that Captain James Cutfield of the yacht Bayesian, which went down near Sicily last week leaving seven dead including tech tycoon Mike Lynch, is now under formal investigation.
Marverine reported: "Also this morning, in further breaking news, Italian media are reporting prosecutors have placed Captain James Cutfield under investigation after the deaths of tech billionaire Mike Lynch and six other people killed when the superyacht they were on sank off the coast of Sicily last week." Earlier, she had delivered an update on a Dagenham tower block ablaze, where 100 residents had to be evacuated, reports the Express.
