Richard Madeley has shared a shocking story about how his sister saved his life during a near-death experience. Returning to Good Morning Britain screens on Tuesday (January 2), Richard was joined by co-host Susanna Reid, who had taken a break from the show over the festive period.

During the show, they chatted with Chesney Hawkes about his upcoming tour and album, with the conversation quickly turning to Chesney's terrifying experience when the plane he was on suddenly lost pressure.

Chesney was flying from Greece to Barcelona with his wife when their plane dropped 20,000ft in the air due to a significant drop in cabin pressure.

This caused panic among the passengers and crew, with one of the flight attendants laying in the foetal position and repeating the phrase "we're all going to die." Thinking they might not survive, Chesney and his wife recorded a message for their children to tell them they love them and say goodbye.
