“At lower levels, snow is expected to be transient, but at higher elevations – say above 200-300 metres in areas like the Peak District – there is a risk of it settling and creating more difficult conditions on trans-Pennine routes. “These cold conditions are expected to last into the early part of next week, when milder weather from the Atlantic will push the cold conditions aside.” Steve Ramsdale, Chief Meteorologist at the Met Office, added: “Although we’re going to see a few days with colder conditions, we shouldn’t be surprised that the start of winter brings a brief spell of wintry weather.
