A celebrated Scots indie-pop band have released their new single today ahead of a run of special ‘Pay What You Can’ intimate gigs across the country.Brownbear, whose frontman Matt Hickman hails from Ayrshire, have released the joyous new single ‘Close Call’ on Wednesday ahead of a new album dropping next year.‘Close Call’ follows the band’s previous single ‘One More Night’, which was released earlier this year after a two-year hiatus, marking a welcome return for the collective led by Largs-born singer-songwriter Matt. With soulful vocals, an upbeat tune with an edge of melancholy, ‘Close Call’ captures the essence of what Brownbear are known for; touching lyricism with foot-tappingly catchy instrumentation.Renowned for their animated live shows, Brownbear have shared the stage with some big names including The Libertines, The View, Reverend & The Makers and Michael Kiwanuka.Their 2018 self-released debut album ‘What is Home?’ led to a headline tour, culminating with a sold out show at the legendary King Tuts Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow. But there’s always time to play gigs in Matt’s home region including Ayrshire’s Freckfest, Ayr’s Burnsfest festival, and Irvine’s Harbour Arts Centre (HAC), where they will return to perform an intimate acoustic show next week.
