Andy Watson has been a winner and a loser in three of Scottish football's closest-run title fights - and is convinced Celtic and Rangers will go the distance this season. However, he doubts that this conclusion will match the drama he experienced with Hearts in 1986 then Rangers in 2003 and 2005.
While No.2 at Ibrox to Alex McLeish, Rangers edged out Celtic by a single goal on the final day 21 years ago as part of a stunning Treble. They then upset the odds just two years later, coming from five points behind with four games left to land the title on Helicopter Sunday.
So Watson is wary of writing off the current Ibrox side as they trail by three points with five games still to play. He said: "All you can do in those situations is to concentrate on doing your own job and hope the other side slip up."Big Alex had a way of picking players up and keeping them focused.
Even when Celtic lost at home to Hibs in 2005 they still had a two-point cushion ahead of their last game at Motherwell. The atmosphere was very flat at Easter Road that day, even when Nacho Novo scored after an hour to give us something to hold on to - Celtic had been 1-0 up at half-time.
