When Jen Herbert is asked what she does for living she tells people she's a travel agent, but it's much more than that. Jen works for Diversity Travel, a company that is responsible for sending thousands of aid workers to war zones and disaster areas across the world. "You try and keep it simple don't you and say you're a travel agent." She told the MEN. "But I add that it's in the not-for-profit sector and people are then inquisitive and they ask about that. "It's not something that most people know exist." The 36-year-old joined the company some 13 years ago as a trainee but has since rose up the ranks and is now head of operations.

Originally from Leicester she moved to Manchester with hopes of working in the travel industry but found herself drawn to the 'exciting' and 'fulfilling' job at Diversity. "It shouldn't be exciting because there are terrible things that are happening around the world.

But being able to have some part in supporting that is quite an exciting and fulfilling thing to do." She explained. "When I first came to Manchester as a trainee for the business, I knew what the company did but it wasn't an area that was well publicised.

I wanted to work in travel and I imagined that would be a leisure brand or one of the big high street names and the more I learned about Diversity and the customers they worked with it, it made it a really appealing company to work with." The company are based in Manchester and work with range of charities such as Save The Children, The Salvation Army and Oxfam.
