Households with energy meter issued warning ahead of price cap change and told 'it's fraud'

For billpayers, it means an average drop of £238 on bills when compared to the current price cap of £1,928. However, before the change takes place, energy customers can ensure they don't get overcharged on their electricity by taking an accurate meter reading at the right time.
Doing this on the final day of the current energy rates, March 31, or the first day of the new rates, April 1, can stop firms from overestimating your energy usage and overcharging you. However, customers are being warned that they should never give their energy firm an inaccurate reading on purpose. As MoneySavingExpert states, you should not provide a lower meter reading before the price cap falls.
